THE LIPSKI'S FAMILY ENSEMBLE

Vladimir Lipski is the founder and constant leader of the group. He was born in Rudnia village, Lelchizki district, Gomel region, which had been one of the ancient settlements of Radzimichy. V.Lipski came from an ordinary family with many children. His parents, Dmitri and Sofia Lipski, were the first, who inculcated a taste for folk song in him. (His mother was the best singer in the neighborhood.) Since early childhood Vladimir dreamed to learn playing the concertina. Thanks to his persistence and diligence, he learned to play the musical instrument without any assistance during short breaks between homework and other duties. And soon the first and only six-year-old concertina-player was welcome at the dancing ground in the village.

As he grew up Vladimir was more and more aware that his life would have been senseless without music. He entered Gomel Music College and graduated from if in 1973 qualified as a choral conductor. From 1974 till 1976 he served in the Armed Forces (as a mechanical engineer and a tank driver).

In 1976 Vladimir entered Minsk University of Culture, the department of cultural and educational work; he graduated from it in 1980 and acquired a profession of amateur academic chorus's leader. At the final year of study he established his artistic group - a chorus of 50 people in the palace of culture of Minsk Automobile Works. Vladimir was the first graduate who brilliantly presented his diploma work together with his group, which consisted solely of plant workers.

During his years of study V. Lipski took a great interest in folk songs of various regions of Belarus, the Ukraine and Russia. He makes his own arrangements of folk songs which become the basis of the group's repertoire and enable the group to give a lot of concerts.

In 1985 the group was conferred the honorary title "national".

Vladimir Lipski was awarded numerous diplomas for the great contribution into the development of Belarusian folk art.

At present the Lipski's family choir consists of four members: Vladimir, his wife Francesca and their daughters Tatiana and Natalia.

Francesca finished Minsk Art College and became a chorus conductor. Being an assistant and the "right hand" of the leader, she has been working with the group since 1981. She successfully fulfils the duties of the choir's manager, producer, the host of all concert programmes, the soloist of the choir and the designer of stage dresses, the stylist and the costumier.

The elder daughter Tatiana finished Ahremchik Art College in the year 2000 with the certificate of a chorus conductor, and Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts in 2006, the class of choral music (the department of folk art). Since the year 2000 she has been a soloist, music leader, choirmaster, arranger, stage director of some dances of the folk choir "Radzimichy".

Tatiana is keen on learning and performing songs in the languages of different nations making her own arrangements. Her solo repertoire includes songs in the Belarusian, Russian, Ukrainian, Moldavian, Estonian, Uzbek, Greek, English, Chinese, Arabic, Hindu, Japanese, Philippine, Korean languages.

Thereupon in 2002 she played a role in the musical "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" in the Korean language (Seoul, South Korea). She is a finalist of the Belorussian Contest of Young Artists "Fest - 2005".

The younger daughter Natalia joined the group in 2001 as the youngest soloist of the ensemble. Her repertoire consists of folk, pop, author's songs and songs in the English, Japanese and Korean languages. Natasha studied music for four years, but then she discovered a new talent which predetermined her further artistic development. In 2005 she entered Ahremchik Art College, the department of Fine Arts. Besides repeatedly taking part in international festivals, contests and tours with the choir, Natasha is engaged in all types of creative work. She is also a finalist of the National Children's Contest "Song for Eurovision - 2005" and "Song for Eurovision - 2006".

The Lipski's family ensemble always awakens public interest in Belarus and abroad, as it embellishes every festival and concert programme. From 2004 till 2006 two solo albums recorded by the Lipskis as a result of their joint creative work were released.
